About Us
Established in 1981, Wilkinsons Landscapes are a family business who have developed a reputation over many years for quality and customer service. Operating from a base at East Brocks Farm, Eaglescliffe, on the outskirts of Stockton on Tees, we have gathered together a team of individual specialists each with their own area of expertise.
Because we are landscapers rather than builders we take a much more sympathetic view of your garden, the size and shape of the plot, its contours, natural drainage and the availability of light and shade.
The depth and breadth of our team means you get the benefit of hard landscaping experience coupled to soft landscaping expertise ... how to balance stone, brick and paving with plant, leaf and foliage to create that natural effect.
Our landscaping team work closely together complementing each others specialist skills ... skills which include stonework, paving, brickwork, block paving, trellis work, fencing ... all techniques of hard landscaping. Similarly ... soft landscaping like laying lawns, planting trees and shrubs, creating flower beds and borders.
Good garden design is very difficult to achieve, yet when successful can release the potential of an otherwise very ordinary piece of land, add value to the property and create endless pleasure to those who use and admire it. Above all good design is not only very beautiful, with a sense of scale and balance, but it also has to be eminently practical.
Gardens don't exist in isolation, they have to relate to their surroundings, the house to which they are attached, the proximity to neighbours and other properties, the limitations and constraints of the piece of land.
Good design incorporates a range of disciplines, an appreciation of architecture, an understanding of plants and horticulture, practical building skills like brickwork, masonry, timberwork and even some familiarity with water hydraulics for ponds and fountains. The design also has to meet the lifestyle and expectations of the owners.
Think carefully before you commit yourself to any major work, be sure to have a scale plan of your garden drawn up. Appreciate where there is light and shade, where the sun rises and sets on the garden, which areas are exposed and windswept, which are sheltered. Decide what you want from the garden and where your priorities lie, what the main functional areas are that you want to incorporate. Is somewhere to eat outdoors, a play area for the children, a relaxing corner to read, spectacular flower beds, whatever your requirements, build them in at this stage.
Time spent before you start work will pay enormous dividends.
